Yayasan Peneraju aims to increase Bumiputera chartered financial analysts

KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju), an initiative under the Bumiputera Economic Transforma­tion Programme is committed to increase the number of Bumiputera Chartered Financial Analysts® (CFA®) in line with the Government’s efforts to lead Malaysia to a high income nation status.

As at March 2016, the number of CFA® charter holders in Malaysia is 605 as compared to Singapore’s 3,407 and Hong Kong’s 6,561.

The statistics were revealed at the Peneraju Profession­al CFA® Annual Summit, which was graced by Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Mokhtar, managing director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, who is also a CFA charter holder.

The summit held at Park Royal Hotel, Kuala Lumpur attracted over 200 delegates.

Raja Azura Raja Mahayuddin, chief executive of Yayasan Peneraju, said: “Yayasan Peneraju will collaborat­e with higher education institutio­ns through its Peneraju Profesiona­l CFA® programme to increase the number of certified Bumiputera profession­als in key sectors especially the financial services sector.”

“Qualified candidates are highly preferred by employers as they are perceived to be technicall­y sound.

“They can earn high income working as portfolio manager, research analysts, corporate finance specialist­s and various leadership positions.” she added.

To date, Yayasan Peneraju has successful­ly nurtured more than 8,000 scholars since it started operations in 2012.

For 2016, Yayasan Peneraju has been tasked to develop up to 6,500 Bumiputera talents in all its three thrust namely Peneraju Tunas, Peneraju Skil and Peneraju Profesiona­l.

Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju) is an initiative under the Bumiputera Economic Transforma­tion Programme launched under the Economic Planning Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department.

It focuses on strengthen­ing the capacity building of the Bumiputera through academic and vocational education in line with Malaysia’s vision to achieve high income status by 2020.
