Teo to help obtain allocation for FCAS Dragon Boat Race

-

KOTA KINABALU: Minister with Special Tasks, Datuk Teo Chee Kang, has agreed to facilitate allocation for the third Sabah FCAS International Dragon Boat Race 2016 to support the event which showcases Chinese culture and sportsmanship.

Teo said this during a courtesy call by the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) committee members, led by its president, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr T.C. Goh, here yesterday.

Goh said that organizing the dragon boat race involved large manpower and financial resources.

Although the State Government provides allocation for the event every year, he said the funding still fell short of covering the expenses.

Furthermore, Goh said FCAS does not have any source of income, and thus the federation relied on government allocation and public donations to raise funds through the events organized. Hence, he hoped that the dragon boat race could raise more funds for FCAS.

“Thanks to the government, we have received allocation for the various activities which FCAS organized. Nonetheless, we still need the support from the public to ensure smooth operation of FCAS and for our activities.”

After listening to Goh’s briefing, Teo agreed to facilitate allocation for the third Sabah International Dragon Boat Race.

Goh also invited Teo to the Sunset Beach Party at Likas Bay on May 20, and the opening cum prize giving ceremonies to be officiated by the Head of State on May 22.

Teo was also invited to contribute a message for the magazine which will be published in conjunction with the dragon boat race.

Also present during the courtesy call were FCAS deputy president Datuk Jimmy Yong Kyok Ming, vice president cum organizing chairperson Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen and FCAS committee members.
