Soft opening of Tawau UTC at Tanjong Market

-

TAWAU: The community here will stand to benefit from the various services provided by departments and private sectors following the soft opening of Tawau Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) at the Tanjong Market.

Assistant Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology, Datuk Hamisa Samat, said the community will now find it convenient to go to the various government departments and private sector offices in one building.

This, she said, will save time as they do not have to go to other departments located at other areas as in the past.

Hamisa said, the UTC is also a part of the Blue Ocean Strategy introduced to elevate service quality through strategic cooperation between government agencies and private sectors.

The UTC at Tanjong Market started operating at levels 2 and 6 yesterday and will operate from Monday to Sunday from 8 am to 9 pm except on public holiday.

The government departments and agencies operating at the UTC currently are the Immigration Department, Waterworks Department, Land and Survey Department, Tawau Municipal Council, National Registration Department, Perbadanan Pinjaman Sabah, Road and Transport Department and the UTC Management office. There is also a dental clinic, ATM machines and police personnel positioned at the UTC.

The centre project started on May 25 this year and was completed on July 25.

The soft opening was jointly officiated Hamisa, State EPU (Sabah) director Datuk Osman Jamal, Tawau district police chief ACP Fadil Marsus, TMC secretary Joseph Pang and Youth and Sports Ministry district head Jamil Jilap.
