KDMM FC still hopeful of a semifinal spot

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah KDMMC FC refuse to call it quits insisting they still have a chance to turn the tables on MISC-MIFA at the FAM Cup League second leg quarter-final match at the USIM Mini Stadium in Negeri Sembilan, today.

Despite coming into the match on a huge deficit from losing the first-leg encounter 4-1 in front of home supporters last week, the Keningau-based club is still holding on to hopes that it might somehow reach the semi-final.

“No doubt it will be tough trying to fight back a 4-1 deficit...it will be like climbing a high and steep hill. But as the saying goes, anything can happen in football.

“It will be another 90 minutes tomorrow (today) and maybe even more. The players know what is expected from them and we will do our best to try and win,” said team manager Henry Saimpon when contacted, yesterday.

He said all the players are available and ready for the encounter, which means head coach Andrew Majanggim can field his strongest line-up.

“At the moment, MIFA have the upper hand but whether it stays with them or not remains to be seen when the final whistle is blown.

“We need to win by four goals to make it through. Whether or not we can do it is one thing, all we know is we have a heavy task to shoulder. I hope everything goes according to plan,” Andrew said.

Meanwhile, three other quarterfinal matches will be played today. MOF FC take on AirAsia AllStars FC, while Perak PKNP FC face Penang Sungai Aara FC and Felcra FC versus Melaka SAMB FC.

In the first leg matches, AirAsia and Felcra won 1-0, while PKNP won 3-0.
