114 graduate from Politeknik Sandakan

SANDAKAN: A total of 114 graduates received their Diploma during Politeknik Sandakan Sabah’s (PSS) Fifth Convocatio­n Ceremony held at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Sandakan Campus here on Saturday.

Politeknik Education Department Head of Directors Datuk Haji Mohd Jaafar who presented the Diploma to all the recipients said that in producing successful graduates, Politeknik emphasizes values and quality in human resources.

“This is because quality is a benchmark of academic excellence in Politeknik.

“The implementa­tion of strategic initiative to ensure Politeknik produces quality graduates has entered its third phase: Enhancemen­t Phase beginning this year until 2020.

“Through this, we hope that Politeknik would be able to produce students who have excellent qualities and who are innovative, creative and responsive,” he said.

He said that in an education sector that is always dynamic, the production of excellent graduates has to be in line with current industrial demand especially in occupying industrial expertise based on technology and vocational.

Director of PSS Lt Colonel (PA) Hassan Siraj in his welcoming speech said that graduates who are celebrated are assets to Politeknik in enhancing its image.

He said Politeknik Sandakan also provides full support to its educators in increasing its performanc­e from time to time by ensuring quality teaching and learning sessions in and out of class are at optimum levels.

In conjunctio­n with the convocatio­n ceremony, a Memorandum of Understand­ing was signed between Politeknik Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kota Kinabalu which was represente­d by UiTM Rector Datuk Dr Haji Abdul Kadir.
