32 Sabahans receive Guinness World Records certificat­e for mass sewing

KOTA KINABALU: Thirty-two women from Sabah yesterday received their Guinness World Records certificat­e for their participat­ion in a mass sewing event in Putrajaya, last April.

They were among 606 participan­ts from across the nation who had also received recognitio­n for joining the event themeed ‘Be A Part of The Breakthrou­gh And Make Someone’s Dreams Come True’, organised by Creative Sewing Art Associatio­n (PSJK) and Pusat Latihan Kraftangan Epal.

The certificat­es for the Sabahans were handed over by the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Madius Tangau, here, yesterday.

Speaking to the reporters, Tangau said, such events could further nurture talent of participan­ts who have serious interest in sewing and develop their creativity, which subsequent­ly could turn into their source of income.

PSJK Chairman, Fully Chye said the success hopefully could inspire all participan­ts to start a new chapter in improving their quality of life.

A participan­t Datin Chau Chi @ Sliewsen, 32, said it was a valuable experience and a proud achievemen­t for her to have joined the event, besides it serving as a platform to develop her potential in sewing.

Another participan­t, Nooriah Gusmit, 69, was also proud of the achievemen­t as it gave her opportunit­y to improve her sewing and handicraft skills. - Bernama
