Semporna fire victims get aid
SEMPORNA: The fire victims of Kampung Balimbang Berjasa, Pulau Bum Bum claimed that they are in need of mattresses, pillows and blankets to provide comfort while staying temporarily in the village’s hall.
One of the victims, Abdul Muluk Bin Mohd Yusup, representing the villagers said they welcome any kind of contribution as they could not save anything during the incident.
“We are happy to receive contribution from the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dakwah Islamiah (Perkida) Sabah as we are now in the state of deprivation.
“It is hoped more parties will come to assist us or channeling contribution so that we could live in comfort,” he said when met at the hall, yesterday.
According to Sabah Perkida spokesperson, Abdul Munib Putan, the contribution consisted of basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, and others.
He said the contribution was aimed at reducing the burden of the fire victims who lost everything in the incident.
“We hope this contribution could help to reduce their burden so that they could live in a comfortable condition,” he added.
Last Tuesday, 61 families from 60 houses lost everything after fire destroyed their homes and nothing could be saved during the incident.
The villagers were placed temporarily at the Kampung Balimbang Berjasa’s hall after the incident.
