Klinik 1M’sia for public housing projects – Hajiji

TUARAN: The State Ministry of Local Government and Housing will positively consider allocating space to be used as Klinik 1Malaysia in government housing projects such as the People’s Housing Programme (PPR) low-rental flats if there is demand.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Hj Hajiji Hj Noor said that for a start PPR projects that could be considered for this purpose were the Penampang and Putatan PPR flats.

“However, this depends on requests from the State Health Department,” he added while declaring open the Klinik 1Malaysia Taman Telipok Ria near here, on Friday.

The minister said this in response to a request by health director Datuk Dr Christina who in her welcoming speech asked the state government to consider allocating space for Klinik 1Malaysia in high-density population areas such as PPR.

Meanwhile, he stressed that the Klinik 1Malaysia was the brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak under the 1Malaysia concept of People First, Performanc­e Now. Najib announced the scheme in his 2010 national budget speech.

The Taman Telipok Ria Klinik 1Malaysia, the 38th in Sabah, opens daily including public holidays from 9am to 9pm. It is manned by an assistant medical officer, a trained nurse and a health care assistant.

Dr Christina in her speech said the health department was looking at the possibilit­y of posting a medical officer (doctor) at Klinik 1Malaysia Taman Telipok Ria in view of the fact that there were thousands of people staying there.

Services available at the clinic are:1. Basic healthcare for light cases such as fever, cough, flu, and other simple cases;

2. Follow-up inspection on chronic patients for stable and controlled cases like diabetes, high blood pressure, and asthma;

3. Light medical procedure such as for wound-dressing and removal;

4. Point-of-Care Test such as for blood sugar level and urine test using the urine dipstick method;

5. Notificati­on of infectious disease such as dengue fever; and

6. Providing advisory service and health patients.

More serious cases will be referred to the Tuaran District Hospital.

In addition, the Telipok Ria Klinik 1Malaysia also provides mother and child healthcare services from 8am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays. It is manned by a trained nurse and three community nurses.
