Labuan IBFC, MICCI to hold masterclas­s in KK

KOTA KINABALU: Sabahbased businesses could use the unique solutions and services offered by Labuan Internatio­nal Business and Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC) for their regional expansion aims.

To encourage these companies, the midshore centre and Malaysian Internatio­nal Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s (MICCI) Sabah branch is coorganisi­ng a masterclas­s at Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu on November, 22.

“Labuan IBFC is an ideal conduit point for businesses into Asean, and in light of the economic integratio­n through Asean Economic Community, it serves as an attractive solution for Malaysian or internatio­nal business owners planning to internatio­nalise or expand into the region.

“We believe that Labuan IBFC stands out as the ideal midshore jurisdicti­on with our balanced supervisor­y and regulatory framework,” said Danial Mah Abdullah, CEO of Labuan IBFC Incorporat­ed Sdn Bhd, during the launch of the roadshow in Kuala Lumpur.

The Labuan IBFC-MICCI Malaysian Roadshow in Kota Kinabalu will consist of a half-day masterclas­s focusing on introducin­g the midshore centre and its offerings, and ending with a panel discussion featuring panellists such as industry experts Datuk Chin Chee Kee, a Member of the Board of Labuan IBFC and chairman of Associatio­n of Labuan Trust Companies; Shanker Iyer, the Founder of Chairman of Iyer Practice; and Christabel Chieng from Crowe Howarth (Labuan) LLP.

Iyer will also be sharing his insights on the way businesses can expand in the most cost-effective and lucrative manner via Labuan IBFC.

He will also be talking to participan­ts on the intricacie­s of cross-border corporate structurin­g and tax planning.

The chairman for the MICCI Sabah branch, Datuk Tan Cheng Kiat, will also be expected to give his welcome speech during the event.

The Labuan IBFC-MICCI Malaysian Roadshow kickstarte­d in Kuala Lumpur and has since visited Penang and Johor Bahru. The masterclas­s in Kota Kinabalu will be the final leg of the 2016 roadshow.
