Umno Youth to reshuffle its exco bureaus — Khairy

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth to reshuffle its executive committee bureaus, early next year in preparation for the 14th General Election, said its chief, Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said, the new bureaus’ structure would see several bureaus being consolidated and the less relevant bureaus to the 14th GE, would be put aside.

“In the states and divisions, I will instruct them the same. Starting today, our operation is 100 per cent gearing towards the election,” he said in his policy speech during the Umno Youth General Assembly, at the Putra World Trade Centre, here, yesterday.

At the same time, Khairy said, Umno Youth needed to be prepared in combat mode at all times, as the this general assemby would most probably be the last one, before the 14th General Election.

He called on every Umno Youth member to set their priorities and set aside any ambition to gain position in the party, because without political power that comes with the people’s mandate, all ranks and positions are meaningless.

“There is no point in looking for popularity in a small group but cannot help in bringing victory to the party in the election,” he said.

Thus, Khairy said, during the assembly, the signal must be sent, the war drum must be beaten, and the starting whistle needs to be sounded to give instruction to machineries and party members to get ready to storm, fight and ensure Barisan Nasional’s victory in the 14th GE.

He said, Umno Youth should not have one dimensional attitude, instead they need to develop new identity in introducing ‘Qiyadah Fikriyah’ or thought leadership.

Khairy said, this could be done by developing ideas and resolutions for the young generation, so they could always have the confidence to rely on Umno Youth.

Umno Pemuda has recorded an increase of 21,618 members between January to last Oct 30, making the total members of the UMNO wing to 620,506 people.

Sabah becomes the state with the most members totalling 88,799, while at the division and branch levels Kemaman, Terengganu has 9,198 members and Kampung Batu Putih in Libaran, Sabah has 600 members. - Bernama
