Doubles masters darts trophy goes to Jerry, Frankie

-

KOTA KINABALU: Jerry Lajitan and Frankie Binsos proved to be the winning duo at the 6th DDC Doubles Masters Darts Morris A Abah Challenge Trophy tournament held in Papar over the weekend.

The Penampang Darters duo was the team to beat at the annual tournament held at the DDC Clubhouse Kg Nagapas.

Jerry and Frankie beat Rahman Kula and Amri Mashor (501 DCBC A Brunei) 3-2 in the play-off between the winner of the winner’s group and winner of the second chance group.

They also pocketed RM500 along with the overall winner’s title and a trophy.

It was Jerry and Frankie’s second title after winning it in 2014. Their feat last week matched the record held by Clarence Gunsoi and McDonald Tanduba (Izing Papar) who also won twice in 2012 and 2013.

This time around, the former champions had to settle for joint third place in the Winner’s Group challenge.

Dragon Darters Club Papar chairman, Marcellus Chalie, said the tournament has been held annually since 2011.

Team 180 Chicken Darters won the tournament last year through John Guntas Junior@ AJ and Rodney Kevin Jack but the duo did not compete this time around. The 180 Chicken Darters did however send five teams to this year’s competition.

Meanwhile, Jerry and Frankie also won the Winner’s Group challenge after beating Albert Patrick and Ghazali Hassan@Jali (All 4one Eagle from Labuan) 4-3.

For their efforts, Jerry and Frankie received RM3,000 while Albert and Ghazali walked away with RM1,500.

The tournament was organised by CR Darts events and attracted 84 teams from Sabah (56), Labuan (15) Sarawak (4) and Brunei (9).
