Popular Mega Bookfair Dec 2-12

KOTA KINABALU: The Popular Mega Bookfair is currently on at 1Borneo Hypermall from December 2 to 12.

Popular Book Co. (M) Sdn Bhd senior retail manager, Samantha Tai said the aim of the bookfair was to inculcate the love of reading among all people, including Sabahans.

She said that visitors can expect a wide variety of English, Malay and Chinese books of various genres, along with stationery, compact disks and DVDs as well as multimedia products all tagged at irresistab­le prices.

At the same time, Popular will also be hosting a charity campaign here in tandem with the mega bookfair to spread the love of reading during the Christmas season, she said.

She also mentioned the special deals at the bookfair which provides a great array of products that are tagged at prices as low as RM2.50 for selected products.

"More than 160 products are featured and for those who spend RM80 nett or above in a single receipt on the same day will be entitled to free vouchers worth a total of RM10. Those spending a minimum of RM150 at the mega fair will receive a free umbrella," she said.

Samantha also spoke of the Christmas Gift Bank Charity campaign by Popular.

"Popular invites the public to join this charity campaign, by taking the opportunit­y to play 'Santa' this Christmas season. All they have to do is donate gifts and grant the wishes of the occupants of charitable organisati­ons," she said.

She explained that they only need to purchase gifts worth at least RM15 from outlets in Kota Kinabalu or at the Popular Mega Bookfair.

"They will enjoy free giftwrappi­ng and receive a RM10 promotion voucher for every gift donated. The gifts collected will be channelled to the Jireh Home and Care Haven orphanages," she said.

Other attraction­s at the event include opportunit­ies to meet local authors such as the author of 'Korban Kerusi Biru', Aman Wan and Azail Fitri who wrote 'Puaka Tandas Berhantu.' The authors will make their appearance on December 10 and 11 to share their work.

Additional­ly, there will also be a Cook Out Day which will take place on December 10. On that day, patrons will be able to meet with bestsellin­g cookbook authors such as Chef Fazalina and Chef Hanieliza. The event will take place between 1pm and 3.45pm on that day.

Children too will have an enjoyable time at the bookfair. They can take part in the 'My 1st Green Step' carnival on December 3, 4, 10, 11 and 12. There will also be a storytelli­ng session on December 5 and 6 where fantastic prizes worth RM2,000 await winners. Popular is also organising the 'Save our Ocean colouring competitio­n' at the event.

Also present yesterday were representa­tives from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Papar.
