Delegates suggest 6P, 3P, 3W formula to win polls
KUALA LUMPUR: The use of abbreviated formulae such as 6P, 3P and 3W is the choice of delegates to highlight ideas on how to draw up strategies for the coming general election.
Speaking at the debate on the motion on the Presidential Policy Speech at the 2016 Umno General Assembly, Kelantan representative Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim introduced the 6P formula, namely, brainstorming; defender of the people; general election; defending Umno; leaders and presidents to ensure that the party could overcome many of the challenges of staying in power.
He said the involvement of the young generation in brainstormings and providing views to formulate the direction of the country could bring it close to Umno, to subsequently ensure the party stayed relevant for all.
He said Umno must become the people's champion not only in this country, but also issues involving the interests of Muslims, such as the oppression of the ethnic Rohingya in Myanmar currently.
"The 14th General Election (GE14) is forecasted to become the fiercest fought in the history of Umno and set to decide the continuity of the party and this demands that the big Umno family defends the party with loyalty and sincerity," he said.
Selangor representative, Budiman Mohd Zohdi shared the 3P formula, namely, unity, opponents' disputes and branding of candidate as a guide in the mobilisation of work to win GE14.
The Umno Sungai Besar Division vice-chief said the unity formula in the party and other components to work as a team based on a single directive, is crucial to determine the mobilisation of work for Barisan Nasional (BN).
Budiman, who is also Sungai Besar Member of Parliament, said the disputes in the opposition parties were among the factors in BN's big victory with a 9,191-vote majority at the Sungai Besar byelection, in June.
