Teo, Sheldon to clash in TRC snooker tourney quarter final

TAWAU: Defending champion Teo Kin Vui and ex-national player Sheldon Senagang advanced into the quarter final in the ongoing Tawau Recreation Club (TRC) 5th Tawau Open Snooker Tournament Datuk Lu Chu Kwong Challenge Trophy yesterday.

Teo defeated M. Kassim Chan Edris Abdullah 3-0 out of best of five frames with 56-50, 53-33 and 59-52 scores, while Sheldon defeated the tournament 2011 champion Louis Yap 3-1 with 60-20, 11-67, 63-21 and 69-38 scores.

With the wins yesterday, the tournament defending champion Teo will face Sheldon, who represente­d Malaysia in the 31st Asian Snooker Championsh­ip 2015 in Kuala Lumpur. The match is at 10.30am today (Saturday).

Meanwhile, Sheldon’s brother Dr Brandon Senagang did not make it to the quarter final after his defeat to Khairil Izwan. Khairil won 3-1.

In the other matches yesterday, Rasid M @ Samy defeated Masri Pattola 3-2, Kong Sing Yew vs Raymond Tsen (3-0) and Low Yew Keat vs Mohudal Mosusah (walk-over). Matches between Patrick Ng vs Kor Soon Mun and Ariffudin Changi vs Felix Tsen were still on as of press time.

DRB-HICOM FC pull out of Premier League

KUALA LUMPUR: DRB-HICOM Berhad (DRB-HICOM) yesterday announced that its football club DRB-HICOM FC had officially withdrawn from participat­ing in the Premier League next season.

According to a DRB-HICOM statement issued here, the company said most of its players and coaches had obtained contracts with other teams and those who had not, were in the process of finalising their new contracts.
