Power supply for seven villages in Keningau soon
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW), will continue to support the development of the state by providing and bringing electricity to the rural areas.
This effort is part of SESB’s commitment to help in uplifting the well-being of rural communities and prioritising on the future growth of the people.
Folks from seven villages in Keningau - Kg Melosok, Kg Kahaba, Kg Dalit Gana, Kg Dalit Laut, Kg Punggol, Kg Inandung and Kg Kalampun - will soon enjoy power supply with the commissioning of 33kV GalitGana overhead line.
The project was partly completed in 2013, but had to be put on hold due to constraints on the transformers loading capacity in PMU Keningau.
Then in March 2015, efforts to energize the lines commenced, achieving full capacity by November 2015 after installing a Mobile Transformer Substation (MTS) in PMU Keningau.
However, after taking consideration on safety aspects during works, SESB had to temporarily decommission the 33kV overhead line in order to facilitate the upgrading of Dalit-Gana road works starting January 2016.
The reallignment and relocation of the electricity poles affected by road works was carried out as part of the scope undertaken by the Public Works Department.
Upon completion, the line is planned to be re-energized on December 31 this year.
Once re-energized, SESB will speedily assist and facilitate new customers with their application process for eventual connection to their premises.
