DAP reps’ resignation expected – Hiew

-

KOTA KINABALU: The resignations of a DAP member of parliament and three state assemblymen in Malacca were expected, said Luyang assemblyman Hiew King Cheu.

He said the reason given on their pulling out from DAP was understandable, especially on the part that DAP had grossly deviated from their original principle and struggle.

“They also mentioned about DAP's administration default and weaknesses. There are some rumours that more DAP leaders will leave the party over similar reason,” said Hiew.

He added that their action was appropriate. This reflected their clear stand towards righteousness, dignity and conscience, especially to be a good people's representative.

“In their press release, they mentioned about the poor administration of the DAP head office, that the punishment set on them did not have a time frame as to when the one-year suspension period will end. This gave them a lot of uncertainty and loss of faith towards the party.

“As an example, in Sabah, many ex-DAP branch chairmen who had resigned many years ago are still receiving DAP communication and asking them to hold branch AGMs, to submit their annual return papers to the DAP head office. Among them were ex-vice chairman Edward Ewol Mujie and deputy chairman Fung Kong Win, and many other branch chairmen who had ditched DAP many years ago. This shows that the DAP management is weak, loose and disorderly.

“How can we entrust them to manage the country if the people give them the mandate in the next general election? Their own people are losing faith, confidence and trust in the party leadership. Furthermore, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng has yet to clear his name in court over a corruption charge.

“It is clear that more people are not happy with DAP. The people are complaining that DAP electedre presentatives are not seen working for the people but are very good in instigating the people to hate the government over minor issues. The question is what have they contributed to assist the people and in promoting harmony and unity?” asked Hiew.
