Charmaine to work with Dayo after seven-year break

-

HONG KONG: Next month, actress Charmaine Sheh is to start filming a new movie with Dayo Wong, the first of such collaboration after a seven-year break.

Wong had written the script. Charmaine and Wong had not worked together since collaborating on the TVB drama You’re Hired.

Commented Charmaine: “There’s pressure (in leading a movie) but it’s like that with any other job too. I will do my best.”

Among current viewers, Charmaine is best known for her work in the Line Walker series. And at 41, she still has the stamina for hectic filming schedules.

Commenting on reports that TVB actor Kenneth Ma had to film non-stop for over 27 hours for the series Deep in the Realm of Conscience, Charmaine said, “That’s common. This isn’t something that only happens with dramas, but for movies too. When you get good results, you’ll forget about the difficulty you went through.”

Charmaine has a piecemeal contract with TVB for one more drama, and she is waiting for the right scheduling to get it done.

A recent online poll among viewers in Hong Kong named the dramas Line Walker and When Heaven Burns as some of TVB’s most classic dramas in recent years. Notably, Charmaine had starred in both.

Charmaine had left TVB in 2011 and is now managed by her own production studio.

On the online accolade, she said: “I’m very happy! I myself really like these two dramas as well.”

Charmaine has had many suitors in the past, including actor Kevin Cheng, but is currently unattached.

At one time, she had told newsmen: “When I was 21 and studying in Switzerland, there was a male classmate who spent an entire night making a snowman as tall as I am. I was annoyed when he woke me up early the next morning. Then, I saw a very big snowman, with a ring in its hand.”

It must have sent a chill down her spine, for she rebuffed him.
