Mega projects in Sabah prove Federal Govt’s concern — CM

-

SIPITANG: The various ongoing and future mega projects in Sabah are proofs that the Federal Government is concerned in bringing in rapid development into the state and not just a mere lip service, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

He said in addition to the construction of the Pan Borneo Highway project in the state, the toll-free road linking Sindumin and Tawau, and the construction of the Peoples’ Housing Project (PPR) were also being intensified.

“Yesterday, the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) had officiated at a PPR project in Batu Sapi, Sandakan and also announced that the Sandakan Airport’s runway will be extended.

“These are the proofs that the Prime Minister and the Barisan Nasional (BN)-led government are concerned over Sabah...not just the construction of the Pan Borneo Highway but also other infrastructure for the people’s comfort. This is not just a mere lip service but real,” he said.

Musa said this in his speech at the launching ceremony of the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway which was officiated by Najib in Sindumin yesterday.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, who is also Sabah Infrastructure Development; Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf; and his deputy minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.

Musa said such infrastructure projects meant for the people had also ward off allegations by the opposition that the state had been marginalised by the Federal Government.

“All that (allegations) are lies. None (of the ethnics) are sidelined or marginalised...All (of them) are helped to enjoy the development together,” he said.

Meanwhile, Musa, who is also Sabah BN chairman, said the coalition’s component parties in the state would continue to focus on the objective of its struggle and to be on the right track in developing Sabah and the people.

“We (Sabah’s BN-led government) have a good track record and we will continue to give undivided support to the Prime Minister to administer and materialise TN50 (National Transformation 2050),” he said.

The 28.4-kilometre long upgrading project of Jalan Sindumin-Kampung Melalia here is part of the highway project’s first phase which will facilitate access to oil and gasbased economic corridor area between Sipitang and Kimanis once completed. - Bernama
