Night of Champions to raise funds for Mr Sabah winners

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Body Building Associatio­n (SBBA) is organising a showcase event called Night of the Champions to help raise funds for state representa­tives for the upcoming national level championsh­ip next month.

Organising chairman Joannes Staneslous said the Night of the Champions would be held at KDCA Hall on May 4.

It will showcase the 12 winners from the State Level Body Building Championsh­ip (Mr Sabah) which would be held at Dewan Tun Mustapha in Lahad Datu on April 29.

In addition to the showcase of champions will be an open physiques competitio­n where three categories would be contested.

“We are having this Night of the Champions event to help raise funds for the 12 winners from the upcoming Mr Sabah championsh­ip, so that they may represent the state to the national level championsh­ip (Mr Malaysia) on May 19 and 20 in Kuala Lumpur.

“We will be having banquet table tickets for sale and these will help to raise the funds that we need for our state athletes. We hope the public would come out and support this event and our athletes,” said Joannes.

Joannes, who is also SBBA acting president, said tickets for one table (10 persons) is RM2,000 and RM1,000, while gallery seats are RM20 each.

Those who wish to take part in the physiques competitio­n are urged to contact the SBBA to confirm their entries.

Cash prizes of more than RM10,000 will be up for grabs including RM1,500 for the champion of each category.

The three categories are 170cm and below, 170cm and above and Ladies Open. Entry fee for men is RM100 and for ladies RM80.
