Tough match ahead of Sabah KDMM FC

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah KDMM FC face an uphill task when they host KL MOF FC in the FAM Cup League Group A tie at the Keningau Stadium today.

Record shows that MOF FC are the stronger team based on three occasions when the two sides met, including the most recent encounter in the FA Cup tie of February 15 where KDMM FC lost 4-0 at the Likas Stadium.

In the other two meetings last season, MOF won 1-0 at home before settling for a 2-2 draw in the second round of last year’s FAM Cup League.

Based on performances in this season’s league so far, MOF seem to have the upper hand after winning both their matches. They currently occupy the second spot on six points while KDMM FC are still looking for their first victory and are at the bottom of the eight-team standings.

With not much else but a blunt strike force, Peter Anthony’s team must also brave the front with a sloppy defence.

To date, the team have already conceded nine goals including in their FA Cup tie. Peter, who is the club’s president, hoped the goal drought would end and that his players would somehow find ways to score goals.

“I hope I can see a goal tomorrow and at the same time, a positive result. Defeats before this should not be an excuse for us to throw in the towel early. Instead, it should inspire us to go for the win.

“The players have sweat it out in training and they have shown progress from each match. I hope they can complement it with a positive result tomorrow,” Peter said.

The match is scheduled for kick-off at 4.15pm.
