Women entreprene­urs urged to register online business

MELAKA: Women entreprene­urs, especially the young people involved in the online sector, have been urged to register with Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and other agencies, to grow them.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Nancy Shukri, said the move would not only help them sell their products locally but also enable them to develope at the internatio­nal level.

She said as such, they (women entreprene­urs) should immediatel­y act so as not to be left behind.

“They need to be smart to capitalise on the digital business world using platforms including through social media such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, Instagram and others as the site to market their goods.

“The globalisat­ion process and the borderless world are currently changing the economic landscape.

“They require entreprene­urs to change their strategies and approaches so as not to be left behind in the new world of business,” she told reporters after launching Prospernit­a South Zone in 2017 programme here yesterday.

Also present were Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam and the board ember, Datuk Jamelah A. Bakar.

She said almost all businesses -- banking, ordering of meals and buying of daily necessitie­s -- could be done only with the ‘click’ or online.

Meanwhile, PUNB Chairman, Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam, said the agency has approved over RM2.5 billion in loans to 8,745 Bumiputera entreprene­urs involving 6,171 companies since its inception in 1991 to Jan 31, 2016.

He said of the total, RM522.43 million, or 32.4 per cent, were given to 2,835 women entreprene­urs involving 2,130 companies.

“InMalacca,PUNBhashel­ped 104 women entreprene­urs from 84 companies with a total value of financing approval of RM16.30 million in various industries,” he told reporters after opening of the programme here yesterday. - Bernama
