NGRK adopts five junior golfers
KOTA KINABALU: Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai (NGRK) has ‘adopted’ five of the state talented junior golfers inefforts to assist in the development of the sport in Sabah.
It was announced by NGRK golf operation director Steven Cheah during the closing ceremony of the Caddy Excellent Services Programme at the club near here yesterday.
Youth and Sports Ministry permanent secretary Haji Awang Damit Awang Anak and Sabah Golf Association (SGA) president Datuk George Bandusena were also present.
The junior golfers adopted were Bryan Wiilam, Ampuan Ikram Shah, Yong Ke Ling, Nabilah Alifuddin and Dayangku Nur Wafiqah.
“All five juniors will train with the club...they will also represent the club in tournaments in the future.
“Nexus (NGRK) always gives 100 per cent support to the ministry and this (adopting the juniors) is part of our Social Services Programme,” said Cheah.
“We (NGRK) hope that our supportfor the juniors will help assist them greatly in their future sport career.
“We believe they are capable of representing Sabah and Malaysia in the future and go on to turn professional golfers,” he added.
Meanwhile, the state have twenty-five more qualified caddies after they received their certificates at the end of the programme.
“The youth development programme is aimed at creating job opportunities for those who are interested to become caddies, in which Sabah are still lacking.
“We are very proud because the programme continues to make Nexus as a platform to train qualified caddies,” he added.
