-

HONG KONG: Simon Yam, who has just visited recuperating fellow actor Andy Lau, has disclosed that he is definitely on the path to recovery, and again looks like a “male idol”.

Andy had been hospitalised since January after falling off a horse while shooting a commercial in Thailand. His spine was lacerated after the horse had stomped on him.

Simon is one of his closest pals.

He had visited Andy at the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, and came away with the good news that Andy is looking upbeat.

Over the past few weeks, a steady stream of showbiz pals had showed up to comfort Andy and to cheer him up. Among them were Michael Miu and Felix Wong, both of whom worked with Andy during his formative years.

Reporters who had waited for Simon to re-emerge from the ward were quick with questions on Andy’s condition.

Getting to specifics, Simon said: “He’s looking like a male idol. His skin looks great. At this rate of recovery, he’s going to be back very soon. He doesn’t even need to put makeup on to look good.”

As to whether Andy provided information on when he would be discharged, Simon shook his head and said: “No.”

On whether Andy could now sit up and stand, Simon’s upbeat comment was: “He is able to do everything! Don’t worry everyone, he is doing well!”

According to medical sources, Andy is expected to fully recover in six to nine months, but is expected to forgo projects at least until next year.
