Developer of Light Residence clarifies

-

IN view of the recent publicity on the extension of time granted by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, Sabah in February 2016 to our project Light Residence, we wish to clarify on the facts of this case.

We have on or about 16th October 2015 applied for an extension of time pursuant to Section 12 of the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Rules, 2008 due to the access road issue wherein various protests were made although proper approval had been granted to the development plan. As a result, we were required to consult a new access road even though the initial access road was duly approved.

Before an extension of time was granted, meetings were called by the ministry on 26th January 2016, and among others, the agenda was a discussion on the justification of our application.

This meeting was attended by Majlis Daerah Penampang, Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) and Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran.

We were advised by our lawyers that the purchasers had filed their case premised on the grounds that an appeal was filed by us on 15th December 2016 in breach of Section 12 of the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Rules, 2008, i.e. the minister heard an appeal in this case instead of the Housing Controller. We deny this of course. It was basically a procedural issue.

We have decided to file an appeal in this case with regard to the report on 6th March 2017 in the Daily Express, (and) we wish to clarify that Ronnie Ang is not our company director.

We hope all these inaccurate reporting can be put to rest while we let the appeal court decide on this matter.
