'Sabah for Sabahans' slogan only for political mileage – Salleh

-

KOTA BELUD: Opposition parties are only harping on Sabah's rights for their political interest, according to Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

He said all parties including Barisan Nasional (BN) components in the state had been championing Sabah's rights, but only BN was consistent about it and not just when politics came into play.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak too had never neglected the welfare of the people in Sabah and Sarawak and declared Sept 16 as a holiday to signify the formation of Malaysia.

"So don't be taken in by the opposition's 'Sabah for Sabahans' slogan, which is purportedly to defend Sabah's rights," he said.

He said this in his speech at a people-leaders programme and presentation of appointment certificates to the Kampung Pirasan Lama Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) for 2017-2018 yesterday.

Salleh added that the BN had always defended the interests and other entitlements of the people in Sabah.

Meanwhile, he urged the people to cut down on their politicking and unite in the government's efforts to bring progress to the state and country.

"If we persist in politicking, when can we ever resolve the problems that the people faced. Let's all diminish this political disunity so that we can proceed with the development and progress of the country," he said.

At the function, he also approved RM60,000 to upgrade the field at Kampung Pirasan and another RM30,000 for the JKKK's official use. - Bernama
