KOTA KINABALU: Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan yesterday assured that his ministry would give its support, cooperation and assistance to the Girl Guides Association Malaysia.

For the coming years, the ministry would maintain and even increase the budget for the association so that more activities could be held and involved more youngsters and women, he said at the State Girl Guides Association Thinking Day Carnival 2017 at Wisma Pandu Puteri in Jalan Tuaran yesterday.

Tawfiq congratulated the association for holding an event which provides opportunity for its members to interact with each other in harmony and unity.

He said that the National Transformation 2050 (TN50), mooted by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, would include voices, ideas and views from the young generations.

Tawfiq urged youths to be involved in the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme Sabah (YESS), for which RM10 million had been allocated for those who faced difficulty in getting loans from financial institutions.

He explained that the purpose of the scheme was to provide opportunities for young people to fulfill their entrepreneurship potential and to improve their welfare.

Among those present at the event were Sabah Girl Guides Association president Datuk Naomi Chong (left) and Sabah Girl Guides Association Branch chief commissioner Normah Datuk Jaffar.
