Umno Pensiangan ready to face 14th GE

-

KENINGAU: Umno Pensiangan Division is ready to face the 14th general election, said its chief Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohd Yassin here.

“More than 13,000 Umno members are ready to face the 14th general election that will be held any time,” he told reporters after launching the district level UPSR BISRA (Smart Friendly) held at SJKC Yuk Yin Hall here yesterday

He said Umno machinery at 36 Pensiangan parliamentary polling districts had always worked regardless of the election to ensure victory for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the coming election.

He said Umno Pensiangan division committee had already set up its working committee for the new Tulid state assembly to help BN candidates.

Ghani said Umno Pensiangan was confident that BN would retain the Pensiangan seats through good cooperation with all BN component parties.

He added that the total number of registered voters for the Pensiangan constituency so far was about 27,000 voters.

He said Umno had always tried to reach out to people at grassroots level as had been done after the last 13th general election through community programs as directed by the party president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

He said the Umno Pensiangan party leadership was also currently trying to clarify issues and negative accusations against the leadership by the opposition, to ensure that the people would not be easily influenced by them to win votes.

Earlier in his speech, he said the success of the children would not have been achieved if teachers and parents had not (made) any decisions involving academic programs.

He said the programs that aimed to motivate UPSR candidates and parents in all schools by headmasters and the Department of Education for the September examination this year was the department’s best approach.

Ghani urged parents to continue working through the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) to find the best approach in improving the performance of education in the rural areas.

“Changes in society in the rural areas is due to the awareness on the importance of education.
