KOTA KINABALU: Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid urged parents to get involved in transformational programs with their children at schools.

Jainab, who officiated at the Community and Consumerism Program closing ceremony at SK Likas here yesterday, said good values should be cultivated at an early age, adding that parents should also be part of any programs that raised awareness amongst their children in school.

“There is no doubt that parents are the primary agents that must play the role of implementer, educator and provider of guidance for their children to become outstanding people. It is the hope of every parent to see their children succeed in life,” said Jainab.

“Therefore it is our responsibility as parents and adults to always be mindful of our children.”

The Community Development and Consumer Affairs Ministry Community and Consumerism Program was organized with the cooperation of SK Likas, Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) and Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation Kota Kinabalu.

The program touched on the importance and promotion of human rights to living in a healthy environment.

At the ceremony, Jainab also reiterated the need for society to protect children from danger and other threats within the communities in Sabah.
