PUCHONG: The Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry is mulling over a proposal to offer the People’s Housing Project (PPR) to police and military personnel who are still in the service.

Minister, Tan Sri Noh Omar acknowledged that these groups needed homes and the issue could be discussed, as well as the establishment of Maktab Rendah Sains Mara for children of military and police personnel.

“I will certainly cooperate if the police and military associations can assist the ministry in terms of proposals on land or site that the project could be built,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after officiating at the meetings of Parent-Teacher Associaton (PTA) of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Puchong Perdana and Sekolah Kebangsaan Puchong Perdana, and a security post for School Relation Officer (PPS) yesterday.

On Friday, Umno Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa was reported to have suggested that military and police personnel be offered PPR unit while still in service, instead of waiting for them to first reach retirement age.

He said the proposal would be tabled in Parliament in the near future.

Earlier, Noh, through the ministry had approved the allocation of RM50,000, of which, RM20,000 was allocated to the respective PTA of both schools and the remaining RM10,000 for the construction of the PPS security post. - Bernama
