AUSMAT achievement awards celebration
THE ceremony, held in early January celebrated and recognised students’ achievement in the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)2016 examination.
Of the cohort, 8 students, Adrian Wong Chee Seng, Gan Rachel, Chan Pei Harn, Ong Cyii Cheng, Mika Low Quan Wei, Nicholas Low Kah Yean, Cheah Huey Lee and Vila shin iS ar a van an achieved ATAR 99 and above; 177 students achieved ATAR 90 and above, and 380 with ATAR 80 and above.
Nine students were awarded Special Certificates of Excellence; one for Accounting & Finance, 2 for Business Management & Enterprise, 5 for English as an Additional Language or Dialect, and 1 for Psychology. The certificates are awarded to the top 0.5 per cent candidates based on the examination mark.
This time around 96 pct of the cohort are eligible for entry into some of the best universities worldwide. Vanitha Satchithanathan, director of the AUSMAT programme at Sunway College congratulated the students on their achievements and took time to commend her academic team for their passion and their inspiring work with their students.
To her students, she hopes with the skills they have learned during their time in AUSMAT – time management, problem solving, and creative thinking will set them far and one day, hopes they will give back to their family, community and country.
The Australian Matriculation programme at Sunway College is well known for its strong pastoral component. The programme aims tonurture wholesome individuals through personalised learning and growth, preparing students for university life and studies.
In the course of the programme, students are challenged to take multiple approaches to problem solving and critical thinking, nurturing their overall cognitive development.
Sunway College Kuala Lumpur is the largest and longest running provider of the AUSMAT (Australian Year 12) programme in Malaysia and with School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) as its partner continuously ensures that standards of the AUSMAT programme is consistent to that of schools in Western Australian.
The Sunway College AUSMAT programme offers a flexible combination of diverse subjects encompassing Science, Mathematics, Psychology and Business Management. Itprepares students for the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), which is recognised and widely accepted by universities in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Russia, Germany, Singapore, South Korea, and private universities and university colleges in Malaysia. The Australian Matriculation programme is one of six pre-university programmes offered at Sunway College.
