More Ken Hwa students pass all subjects

KENINGAU: Two hundred and five of the 240 candidates from SMJKs Ken Hwa who sat for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinatio­n last year passed all the subjects, an increase of 3.55 per cent compared with 81.86 per cent in 2015.

However, the school Average Point Grade (GPS) declined 5.33 compared to 5.32 in 2015, said the school principal Chong Nyuk Choon, when announcing the school’s SPM results here Thursday.

He said the subjects that increased or maintained its Grade Point Average (GPMP) were Bahasa Melayu, Islamic Studies, Moral Education, History, Science, Visual Art Education, Additional Mathematic­s, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, while those that dropped were English, Mathematic­s, Geography, Commerce, Management Accounting, Economics, Design, ICT and Chinese Language.

“The outstandin­g SPM students of this school were Ivy Pang who gained 10A’s, Joshua Lee and Chong Wen Jia each with 9A’s, Didinadira Charles and Nur Ahirah Jais (8A’s) ,while two students got 7A’s, nine students received 6A’s and nine students got 5A’s.

Chong congratula­ted the outstandin­g candidates and expressed hope that they would continue with the culture of excellence in whatever field they were going to pursue in the future.

“I also thank the senior assistant, senior teachers, the School Management Board, and the Parents-Teachers Associatio­n which had always supported the school programs,” he said.

Present at the ceremony were the School Management Board chairman Pang Shu Hin and his deputy Kapitan Peter Ma, Parents-Teachers Associatio­n chairman Benjamin Kandau and its advisor Chai Nyuk Kong.
