KUALA LUMPUR: A man who allegedly harassed a female passenger onboard the LRT Kelana Jaya line on March 13 has been apprehended and surrendered to the police by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana).

The arrest of the 37-year-old man from Lembah Subang was made possible after the passenger, Nur Dini Van Haeren, a 21-yearold private university student provided details about the suspect to Prasarana.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Ir Zohari Sulaiman said their auxiliary police team members swung into action after Nur Dini posted about the incident on her Facebook.

"We spoke with Nur Dini to obtain more details and secured the footage of the suspect from our closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings.

"We have been in the look out of the suspect the past few days and are pleased to share that he had been successfully apprehended at the Taman Jaya LRT station yesterday," he said in a statement yesterday.

Zohari said the suspect had been surrendered to the police on Thursday after positively identified by Nur Dini.

He also advised LRT passengers to remain alert and calm should they encounter any unpleasant situations and promptly alert the staff, the auxiliary police or even nearby passengers for support and assistance.

According to the statement, Nur Dini was harassed after she boarded the train at the Kelana Jaya LRT station enroute to the city centre.

As she entered the train, she noticed a man looking at her with a 'naughty' expression on his face.

"Sensing that he was up to no good, Nur Dini was on high alert. She heard him whisper vulgar words to her, and the harassment continued as he went on making 'naughty' faces at her," the statement said.
