Medical graduate, hotel worker claim trial to 23 pimping charges

PETALING JAYA: A medical graduate from a university in Egypt and a hotel worker were charged in the Sessions Court yesterday with acting as pimps and living on the earnings of prostituti­on since May last year.

Khairul Azzuar Yusoff, 28, and Mohyuddin Ahmad Fajaruddin, 23, claimed trial to a total of 23 charges.

Khairul Azzuar who is waiting to do his housemansh­ip, and Mohyuddin are charged with four and five counts respective­ly, of living on the earnings of prostituti­on.

The charge under Section 372A(1) of the Penal Code, carries a maximum 15 years imprisonme­nt and whipping, and liable to a fine on conviction.

The two also stand accused of seven and two counts respective­ly, of acting as a pimp.

The charge under Section 372(1)(f) of the Penal Code, carries a maximum 15 years imprisonme­nt and whipping, and liable to a fine on conviction.

Khairul Azzuar and Mohyuddin further face five joint charges of acting as a pimp, under Section 372(1)(f) of the same Code. They allegedly committed the offences at certain hotels around Subang Jaya between May, 2016 and January this year, involving five victims aged between 19 and 22 years including an Indonesian.

On March 8, the duo who were unrepresen­ted claimed trial in the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur to 54 counts of the same offences.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Abazafree Mohd Abbas did not propose bail today as the duo were not given bail at the time.

Judge Mohammed Mokhzani Mokhtar similarly did not grant bail and set April 18 for remention.
