Two-way contests for Shareda top posts
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) will elect its new president and deputy president for the 2017-2019 term on March 25 this year.
The candidates contesting for the president post are Chew Sang Hai and Kong Chung Vui, whereas for the deputy president are Dato John Chee Shi Tong and Datuk Chua Soon Ping.
Shareda secretary-general Datuk Chua Soon Ping said the friendly contests will be the highlight of the forthcoming 24th annual general meeting at the association’s mini-auditorium.
Incumbent president Datuk Francis Goh Fah Shun who has been helming the association for two terms since 2013 would be stepping down, he said in a statement yesterday.
Chua also announced that all members can be nominated into office in the election of office bearers of Shareda Council in every alternate annual general meeting except the office of a president, a deputy president and two vice presidents, which shall be filled by members who have served in the Council for at least one term in the preceding six years.
Shareda Council consists of 18 members of which five members are appointed by the elected president in the first council meeting, while the rest are elected.
The Council comprises a president, an immediate past president, a deputy president, two vice presidents, a secretarygeneral, a treasurer-general, an assistant secretary-general and ten Council members including a chairperson of the Youth Committee.
Chua said all the office bearers this year were returned uncontested except for the president and deputy president posts.
The four candidates vying for the said posts are qualified to contest as they have served the association for more than the required criteria for at least one term in the preceding six years.
