Sabah eye gold at MSSM Squash C’ships
Sabah are quietly hoping to win a gold medal through their squash squad at the na onal level Malaysia Schools Sports Council (MSSM) Squash Championships which would be held at SMK Bukit Bintang in Petaling Jaya, Selangor from March 19-24.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah are quietly hoping to win a gold medal through their squash squad at the national level Malaysia Schools Sports Council (MSSM) Squash Championships which would be held at SMK Bukit Bintang in Petaling Jaya, Selangor from March 19-24.
A total of 24 junior squash players are donning state colours and coaches are hoping a medal would emerge from one of their talents taking part in the various categories being contested.
With Sabah squash players making quite a splash in recent months, the contingent are quietly confident of emerging victorious in this national meet which involves top players from schools all over the country.
Among those representing Sabah are Boys' and Girls' U18 competitors of Kayden Liaw, Nicholas Tan, Kong Kun Hao, Danish Adlan Dahalan, Lai Wen Li, Joanne Joseph, Audrey Richard and Naylie Zulkifli.
The Boys' and Girls' U-15 lineup consists of Jessica Keng, Yee Xin Ying, Etain Tay, Nuraliah Natasha Dahalan, Duncan Lee, Adam Amrie Goh, Yee Zheng Hong and Syafiq Asyari Sarjuddin.
Meanwhile, Euven Liaw, Tristan Andreas, Aniq Azhar Azriansyah, Chong Chi Vui, Rachel Richard, Nadia Abdullah, Doyce Lee and Chin Sze Yi are selected for the Boys' and Girls' U-12 category.
The state contingent departed for the competition venue today led by contingent chief, Suriyansyah Yunus who was accompanied by team manager, Anas Sulaiman and head coach, Suarno Suradi.
