NGO to organise sixth Black Sunday March 26

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sorak Sabah or Solidarity Rakyat will be organising its sixth series of Black Sunday at Taman Chong Thien Vun on March 26 at 9.30am, said its organising chairman Dexter Chin.

He said the purpose of the peaceful protest was to raise pertinent issues affecting the people that needed serious attention of the government.

The people of Sabah have been seeking a closure of the Royal Commission of Inquiry findings and results on illegal immigrants, Project IC - the alleged systematic granting of citizenship to foreigners, but neither result nor solution was forthcoming, he said.

Chin said Sorak Sabah believed that the electoral rolls was yet to be cleaned from the Project IC issue and would be used in the next state election which will be held soon.

He said Sorak Sabah would also like to highlight its concern on the announcement made by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) Commander DCP Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun in the local news in 2015 which reported approximately 1.4 million illegal immigrants were in Sabah.

Census 2010 statistics indicated about 889,799 were illegal immigrants in Sabah, an increase of 501,201 or 57% in five years.

The demographic and increase of population by the illegal immigrants has been the issue for many decades now.

Chin said Sorak Sabah will also highlight the biggest ‘Sabah Watergate Scandal’.

He said Sorak Sabah was perplexed that the three persons involved were only charged under the Money Laundering Act instead of corruption.

“Where are the millions of monies confiscated being kept?” he asked.

He said Sorak Sabah and the rakyat want an answer from the authorities and the government to reveal the truth on what is going on with the issue.

“We would like to invite the people of Sabah to join us on Black Sunday 6 at Taman Chong Thien Vun at 9.30am on March 26,” he said.
