Chicken trader charged with murdering woman

IPOH: A chicken seller was charged in the Magistrate's Court yesterday with murdering a woman on March 13.

Mohd Nur Hussein Mohd Salleh, 34, nodded that he understood the charge after it was read out to him before Magistrate Nur Melati Diana Abdul Wahab. However, no plea was recorded.

The accused allegedly killed Hamidah Abdul Rahman, 53, at her home at No 2, Persiaran Wira Jaya Timur 38, Taman Dato Lew Yan Sip here, between 12.01 am and 5am on March 13.

Deputy public prosecutor Sally Chai Mei Ling appeared for the prosecutio­n while counsel Ashvinder Kaur represente­d the accused.

Earlier, Ashvinder had submitted an applicatio­n to the court requesting to send Mohd Nur Hussein to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Tanjung Rambutan for psychologi­cal evaluation.

Nur Melati Diana granted the applicatio­n and set April 20 for remention pending medical reports on the accused.

It was earlier reported by the media that the victim, an assistant to a market trader, who had just got engaged five days ago was found in the main upstairs room of her house lying in a supine position on the bed covered in blood. - Bernama
