Pakistani brothers to stand trial for obstructin­g cop

KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate's Court here yesterday fixed April 18 for the trial of two Pakistanis who were charged with obstructin­g a police officer on duty.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus set the date on the two siblings, Fazal Ghani Usman Ghani and Rahman Ghani after they maintained their plea of not guilty to a charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code, yesterday.

The indictment carries a jail term of up to two years or fine or both, on conviction.

Both accused, who are shop operators, were alleged to have prevented the police officer from carrying out his duty at a grocery shop at Kampung Mansiang, Manggatal at 1.30pm on March 2.

Fazal and Rahman are currently released on bail, pending disposal of the case.

Prosecutin­g officer Inspector James Paran appeared for the prosecutio­n.
