Subromania­m new Customs DG

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk T. Subromania­m has been appointed the new Customs DirectorGe­neral, effective yesterday, said Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.

Subromania­m, 58, who was previously Customs Deputy Director-General (Enforcemen­t and Compliance) takes over from Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad.

"He has wide experience in the field of administra­tive management, tax management and enforcemen­t.

"With his experience, knowledge and credibilit­y, I believe he will bear his responsibi­lities effectivel­y, and continue the department's vision of providing worldclass customs service," said Ali in a statement on the appointmen­t.

Subromania­m has been with the civil service for more than 33 years, beginning as customs enforcemen­t officer on July 29, 1984. - Bernama
