KTRS juniors shine at Sabah Junior Tour 2017 1st leg

-

SANDAKAN: Juniors from Kelab Tenis Remaja Sandakan (KTRS) had another good outing at the recent Mark Pang Ka Miew Tournament where they took home 11 medals.

The junior age-group tournament was the 1st leg of the Sabah Junior Tennis Tour listed in the Sabah Tennis Association's annual calendar. It was held at the tennis courts of Sandakan District Tennis Association and Sandakan Golf & Country Club.

“Our players participated in several age-group events and played up to expectations. In spite of the presence of some of the top ranking juniors from all over the state, we still got a good haul of medals,” said KTRS president Taren Sunil Manoharan.

“It was a delight to watch these junior players from all over Sabah in action. All our KTRS players also had a wonderful time and were happy to have the opportunity to play against their peers from other parts of Sabah.

“We truly appreciate the sponsors and organisers of this tournament which has certainly given all our juniors the opportunity to gain valuable tournament experience.

“Whether our players won gold, silver or bronze medals, they have all put up a good show and I am very proud of them. We will also send them to participate in the other legs of this Sabah Junior Tour which will be held in other districts,” Manoharan said.

He concluded by saying that this state-wide junior tour is just what Sabah needed to promote and popularise tennis among schoolchildren and youth in the state which is why KTRS is also giving its full support.
