Reject betrayer – Musa

- By Neil Brian Joseph

TUARAN: The public must not let themselves to be easily influenced by ‘disappointed’ opposition leaders, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman.

Furthermore, they should not support someone who betrays his own party, he said.

“If he could not even manage his own ministry, how is he going to manage an entire state?” he asked when commenting on Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal’s recent accusations.

Musa further said that Shafie could have fulfilled all his desired wishes of a better Sabah when he was a federal minister.

“Taking down the government is not always a good solution. You can refer to countries such as Libya and Iraq as examples. These countries used to be peaceful but now they are not that safe anymore,” he said during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Sabah Bajau Sama Cultural Centre building at Kampung Lok Batik, Tuaran yesterday.

The Chief Minister also accused Shafie of being an arrogant leader and he rarely had meetings with him.

He had also questioned the usage of the funds given to Shafie’s Rural and Regional Development Ministry.

Musa said that Shafie’s old ministry was extremely vital for Sabah and Sarawak’s development.

In comparing Shafie’s leadership with his successor, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, Musa said the new minister was far more effective in his job.

Ismail would hold direct meetings with Musa on any desired projects, unlike Shafie, said the Chief Minister.

“Shafie likes to go to the villages and gives all sorts of promises. The irony of this situation is that Shafie could have fulfilled all those promises when he had the power,” added Musa.

The government’s efforts in improving the rakyat’s lives can be seen in things like BR1M, school funds assistance, Kedai 1Malaysia, the help given to fishermen and farmers and many more.

Musa reiterated that a State and federal ministry must work together if they want to achieve the rakyat’s dreams of having a better Sabah.

“We never get tired of meeting the Prime Minister and other federal leaders for funds. This is how it needs to be done,” said Musa.

He added that once a leader had been appointed as a federal minister, he should not just sit in his office, enjoying the airconditioning without doing any proper work.
