Kit Siang should quit, says Abdul Rahman

SHAH ALAM: Barisan Nasional (BN) Strategic Communications director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan has suggested that DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang resign from politics and give an opportunity to new faces as aspired by the party's grassroot members.

He said the DAP still refused to transfer power to young leaders but wanted to retain Kit Siang who had extreme views, for the past 51 years when other political parties had undergone transformation.

"It is possible this leadership has resulted in the party being unable to win in general elections.

"Many DAP leaders dare not speak openly of this matter and they will thank me and my colleagues in BN for saying it is high time that Kit Siang quit," he added.

Abdul Rahman said this at a media conference after opening the annual conference of the Leaders of the Professional Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) yesterday.

The Umno Supreme Council member said this when commenting on Kit Siang's aspiration to defend the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat at the 14th General Election (GE14) if he did not retire from politics.

In his latest statement, Kit Siang did not rule out contesting in another parliamentary seat at GE14 as a political strategy.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman, who is also minister in the Prime Minister's Department said he would fully cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and police over his alleged abuse of power when he was urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister.

On Friday, two DAP grassroots leaders showed documents purported to back their allegations on the abuse when Abdul Rahman headed the ministry from 2013 to 2016. - Bernama
