CFDA fashion awards nominees revealed

RAF SIMONS, Tim Coppens and the Olsen twins are just some of the designers to have been nominated for the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards.

Competing for the prestigious Womenswear Designer of the Year Award will be Simons (pictured below), for his work at Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, and The Row's designers Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen. Joseph Altuzarra for Altuzarra and Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have also been nominated.

Simons is also up for Menswear Designer of the Year for his work at Calvin Klein, alongside Tim Coppens, Robert Geller, Thom Browne and Todd Snyder.

Coach's head designer Stuart Vevers and the Olsen sisters have been nominated for Accessory Designer of the Year, along with Paul Andrew and Mansur Gavriel's trio of creatives, Irene Neuwirth, Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel.

All eyes will be on the ceremony's newest accolade — the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent — which sees Gabriela Hearst, Virgil Abloh (Off-White), Sander Lak (Sies Marjan), Laura Vassar Brock and Kristopher Brock (Brock Collection), and Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia (Monse) go head to head to be crowned the industry's hottest upcoming talent.

Meanwhile, the recipients of a host of individual awards have also been revealed, with Vetements and Balenciaga designer Demna Gvasalia claiming the International Award and Rick Owens taking home the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. Kenneth Cole will receive the first-ever Swarovski Award for Positive Change, while celebrity makeup artist and beauty entrepreneur Pat McGrath will be given the Founder's Award. Franca Sozzani, the late editor of Italian Vogue who died last December, will be honoured with the Fashion Icon Award. Last year, the accolade was given to Beyoncé.
