KUCHING: International Trade and E-Commerce Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh will only respond to former Pujut state assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon’s demand for apology if he can prove that the Australian Government’s records of Dr Ting’s financial standing are wrong.

Wong in a three-paragraph statement yesterday Wong not only refused to respond to the demand made through Dr Ting’s lawyer Wong King Wei who is also the Padungan assemblyman, he pointed out that Dr Ting should first apologise to the voters of Pujut for misleading them on his citizenship status and Sarawak DAP for nominating an ineligible candidate for the constituency in the last state election.

“The statement which I made that Dr Ting is a bankrupt is based on an official search and subsequent official document from the Australian Government.”

“Should Dr Ting be able to prove that the Australian Government records are wrong, only then am I willing to respond to the letter of demand from King Wei and Co.” said Wong in the statement yesterday.

Wong, who is also Second Finance Minister said he did not see the letter of demand served by King Wei but saw only a picture of it sent by his office in Kuching.

“I went to visit the longhouses in my area early this morning. I only got to see the picture of the letter which my staff in Kuching sent to me,” Wong told The Borneo Post.
