Invest Selangor, State Govt of Victoria collaborate on high tech industries

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Invest Selangor Bhd recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the State Government of Victoria, Australia, to collaborate in the areas of information and communication technology, food and agribusiness, education and training.

The MoU was signed between Invest Selangor chief executive officer, Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris and Commissioner to South East Asia, State Government of Victoria, Brett Stevens.

In a statement, Invest Selangor said the signing augured well with the state’s efforts to attract more players to make Selangor as the ASEAN base especially for high-tech industries such as e-commerce, aerospace and biotech.

“Selangor being the most developed state of Malaysia is heading towards a future disrupted by technological changes and innovations.

“We have to embrace this development and finally become an agent of change or we will not be able to compete in the global arena,” said Selangor senior executive councillor for Investment, Industry and Commerce, Small and Medium Enterprises and Transportation, Datuk Teng Chang Khim.

in 2016, Selangor has outperformed its RM6 billion target, achieving investments of RM7.88 billion in the manufacturing sector and ranked second in Malaysia, after Johor, in terms of total direct investment in the manufacturing sector.
