MRT SSP Line 7.5 pct completed, 18 pct by December
KUALA LUMPUR: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) projects 15 to 18 per cent completion of its Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line by end-2017.
MRT Corp SSP Line Project Director, Datuk Amiruddin Ma’aris, said at present, the overall progress of the MRT SSP Line is at 7. 5 per cent and its construction schedule was on track.
He said MRT Corp had awarded 31 packages worth up to RM30 bilion to-date for the Klang Valley MRT SSP Line, while the remaining 38 packages, valued at RM2 billion, were expected to be awarded by this year and in 2018.
“As all civil and systems packages have been awarded, works have begun for both the northern and southern elevated alignment, underground section and the depot.
“The SSP Line is now moving at a good pace according to plans,” he told a media briefing on the MRT SSP Line progress update here, yesterday.
A mi rudd in said for underground works, which included utility relocation, excavation for station boxes and shafts, tunnel boring machine (TBM) refurbishment, as well as manufacturing, was progressing well at 8.7 per cent.
A total of 12 TBMs would be used to excavate the tunnels for the SSP Line’’s 13.5-kilometre (km) underground section.
As for the land acquisition progress, he said MRT spent about RM2.2 billion for two-thirds of the lots required for the development of the SSP Line.
