Stupid for USA, Pakatan Harapan not to work together — Jeffrey

-

KOTA KINABALU: It makes sense for United Sabah Alliance (USA) and Pakatan Harapan to work together, said State Reform Party (STAR) president Datuk Jeffrey Kitingan.

Jeffrey yesterday said it would be stupid for USA and Pakatan Harapan not to work together.

He said the collaboration between USA and Pakatan Harapan would be the ideal solution for a one-to-one fight with Umno and Barisan Nasional in Sabah.

However, he explained that presently, they were not a team.

“But you have to be realistic, we want to work with them,” he said.

He added that there were only three opposition groups in Sabah - Pakatan Harapan, USA and Warisan Sabah.

Jeffrey also denied allegations that he was pro-BN.

“What is the basis that I am pro-BN? In the ADUN (state assembly sitting), I have fought a very consistent fight all this time. I always raise the same things,” he said.

He added that he even went to jail fighting for Sabah’s rights.

The allegations had stemmed after netizens saw photos of Jeffrey shaking hands with Datuk Salleh Said Keruak and his brother, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.

“If I shake hands with my brother or with Said Keruak and I join mySabah (WhatsApp group), what is wrong with that?”

“Certain people want to destroy my credibility,” he claimed.

He added that although he had been offered by BN, he had not taken up the offer because he wanted to raise issues for Sabah.

During the press conference, Jeffrey also lamented that he was probably boycotted by English newspapers.

He urged for a just coverage and said that they should not be left out because certain leaders want them out of the media.

“I don’t think this is fair now that a lot of issues and suggestions are being thrown around,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pasok president Richard Jayasuriya and lawyer Marcel Jude Joseph also joined STAR yesterday.
