Radin applauds performance of village, urban committees

-

TAWAU: Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Radin Malleh said the performance of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and Urban Community Committee (JKDB) in the state had improved.

He said this was not only in terms of the percentage of participation of young people and women in both of these bodies but also in terms of leadership of these bodies.

“This is evident as both bodies have successfully acted as a liaison between the government and the people at grassroots level,” he said when officiating at the closing of JKKK and JKDB Management and Administration course for Merotai, Tanjung Batu and Sebatik at a hotel here on Tuesday.

Radin said JKKK and JKDB had been able to deliver the needs of the people such as roads, water, electricity, schools, houses of worship and other basic amenities to the government to note.

“I urge the leadership of the two bodies to continue to improve their knowledge so that ideas and work remain relevant to the people.

He said the world today was borderless and any information or news could be obtained at the fingertips, whether authentic or false.

“I suggest the chairmen and members of JKKK/JKDB ensured the validity of any information or news obtained before sharing with other partners,” he said.

Radin said the JKKK and JKDB bodies should refrain from engaging in the dissemination of sensitive issues because it was contrary to their roles as the eyes, ears and tongue of the government at grassroots level.

He said this was to ensure that unity at village level remained strong and robust which could not be disturbed by any party that tried to divide them.

Present at the ceremony were the Ministry of Rural Development deputy permanent secretary Sualim Sanan, Tawau Municipal Council deputy president Aftar Nurajat and government officials.
