Warisan says will transform Kiulu if it wins GE14

-

KIULU: Parti Warisan Sabah has pledged to transform Kiulu into a prosperous town with agriculture as well as eco-tourism development.

The remote Kiulu has so much potentials that has not been explored and Warisan is determined to turn it into the next prosperous town, said Warisan vice president Junz Wong during his recent visit to officiate a Kaamatan celebration held in Kampung Mantob, Kiulu on June 29 together with Moyog assemblyman Terrence Siambun.

Junz said he was informed that most Kiulu farmers depended on planting rubber for livelihood.

So he thought the very first thing which needed to be done was to help the rubber planters to resolve their woes if Warisan wins the 14th General Election.

Junz said Warisan would look into the system thoroughly and the policies implemented by the Sabah Rubber Industry Board (SRIB) and there might be a need to undergo a total revamp for the benefits of the Sabah rubber tappers and planters.

“We have heard, for many years, that the Sabah rubber planters complaining of unfair prices given to them compared to West Malaysia, Sarawak and unfair policy being implemented in Sabah,” he said.

Junz, who is also Likas assemblyman, said he heard the villagers telling him about how the pineapple used to be the product Kiulu farmers are proud of as they produce very good quality fruits.

Sadly gone were the days and Warisan is determined to bring that back.

Warisan will revive the pineapple plantation by setting up more downstream industries and processing factories, he added.

With all the agriculture downstream activities, Warisan believes it will help the youth in Kiulu, Tamparuli and Tuaran to find job and career opportunities.

As one of the spots for water rafting, he said Warisan will explore the potentials of eco-tourism and other related areas in Kiulu.

Kiulu is certainly one nice natural beautiful town for homestay and local products etc.

Junz also said that Warisan would cancel the policy of communal land title and issue land titles to rightful natives.

“Warisan will also amend the land ordinance to ensure bigger protection to the orang asal, especially when it comes to land grab issues. This has been announced by party president Dato Seri Shafie Apdal at several occasions.
