Crispin’s move smacks of insincerity

- By Jenne Lajiun

It is Crispin Ki ngan’s poli cal and civil rights to join any poli cal party, but his decision to join Warisan only a er re ring from the civil service smack of insincerity, according to Datuk Johnny Mositun.

KOTA KINABALU: It is Crispin Kitingan's political and civil rights to join any political party, said Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) secretary general Datuk Johnny Mositun, yesterday.

“The question is not Crispin joining Warisan or any other political party for that matter, despite him being Pairin's (Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan) brother,” he said.

“The question is why Crispin chose Shafie (Datuk Shafie Apdal) and Darell (Darell Leiking), the two main persons behind Warisan,” he added.

Mositun claimed Shafie had never been known to fight for Sabah's rights until he fell out of favour from Umno.

As for Darell, he betrayed his constituents' trust and mandate by dumping the party on whose platform he became a Parliament member, on the perception that they are able to change the BN government then, said Mositun.

“Does this mean that Darell now believes that Warisan, being a Sabah state party, is in a position to change the federal government compared to the national party he (once) belonged to? It just does not make sense,” he said.

Mositun added that Crispin was a senior officer of a Sabah State government linked corporation (GLC).

“If he had strong desire and sincerity in fighting for Sabah, he should have given up his position (with all the perks and benefits that came along) earlier to pursue his so-called struggle and not wait for his retirement before going into politics,” Mositun argued.

He said it was no struggle when after entering his newly found post-retirement comfort zone, Crispin suddenly decided on the need to pursue Sabah's rights.

“Simply, this smacks of insincerity and hypocrisy and the hallmarks of an opportunist!” said Mositun.
